Pine Island Black Dirt Farmers’ Market in full swing

PINE ISLAND — The Black Dirt Farmers’ Market is now open every Saturday until Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It’s new location is at the Jolly Onion parking lot on the corner of Glenwood Road and County Route 1 at the traffic light.

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony in June, Pine Island Chamber of Commerce President Marlene Caraballo thanked the market’s Healthy Community Sponsor St. Anthony Community Hospital, a member of the Bon Secours Charity Health System, and volunteers and vendors along with property hosts Will Brown, Barbara Felton and Andy and Jenna Field.

“And I would like to thank our Market Manager Lori Mosher and the Warwick Valley FFA, which helped us get ready to open and will help us during the season,” she added. “We also thank RJR Rudy Memorial for joining us today.”

“Warwick is a very farm-friendly town and this market is great for our community,” said Warwick Town Councilman Russell Kowal, who also is a farmer.

Pine Island Black Dirt Vendors currently include: Black Dirt Bakery, Cactus Pete Beef Jerky, Davandjer Farms, Hillery Farm Eggs/Honey, John D. Madura Farms, Lowland Farm, W. Rogowski Farm, Tina’s Baskets, Soons Orchard Wright Farm, Pazdar Winery and Chumley’s BBQ.
