Original Vinyl Records celebrates grand opening

— Where do old records go to live?
Well, the answer is, "we now have Original Vinyl Records, the first store of its kind in Warwick in almost two decades."
On Wednesday, Dec. 5, Town of Warwick Supervisor Michael Sweeton and members of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce joined owner Jim Eigo and his wife, Pam, with their mascot English Bull Dog "Diesel," family, staff, friends and associates to celebrate the grand opening of the new store with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Original Vinyl Records is located at 314 State Route 94 South in the Warwick Crossing shopping plaza next to Sneakers to Boots.
Eigo, a 17-year Warwick resident and owner of Jazz Promo Services, said that he fulfilled a lifelong dream by opening a retro record store for the avid and novice vinyl album collector.
As a collector, he amassed the records he's selling over years of collecting, picking, yard sailing and record shows.
Eigo is also a long-time veteran of the record business having worked at Cox Records in Brooklyn, running the jazz department at the legendary Greenwich Village record store Happy Tunes Records, setting up the first record store in the Soho district of Manhattan, the Soho Music Gallery and managing the jazz department for J & R Music World.
"After years of marketing and promoting jazz musicians and record labels," he said, "I saw the opportunity and the need for a local record store."
Original Vinyl Records has an inventory of thousands of rock, jazz, children's, soundtracks, pop vocals, celebrity, classical, comedy and many odd ball records with classic covers, as well as 45s, CDs, cassettes and even 8-track tapes.
You can check out any of the music on the store's vintage hi-fi system or other available players while relaxing in the lounge.
The store also features vintage music related items and books, as well as original music artwork.
"I want the store to be a fun place where people can come and hang and browse and talk about music and records," said Eigo. "We also plan to do special in-store events like Vinyl Listening Night as well as local artists showcases."
During the holiday season Original Vinyl Records will be open Thursdays from noon to 7 p.m. and Friday to Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays are by appointment. Call 917-755-8960
