— The Orange County Land Trust will hold its 20-year anniversary benefit reception on Friday, June 7, at the historic Bear Mountain Inn.

The Orange County Land Trust has helped protect nearly 4,500 acres of land and working farms in Orange County, working with individual landowners to maintain the county’s open spaces and natural and agricultural heritage.

Entitled “From the Hudson to the Delaware … A Legacy of Land,” this event is expected to draw 300 guests. The annual benefit is the nonprofit group’s largest fund raiser.

To mark the work of 20 years, the celebration will be held at the historic and newly renovated Bear Mountain Inn, an Adirondack-style grand lodge built in 1915 on the grounds of Bear Mountain State Park.

Remembering Lou Mills
Land Trust officials will give special recognition to their partners in conservation, including Orange County government, Region 3 of the New York State Department of Conservation and its Hudson River Estuary Program, the Open Space Institute, Scenic Hudson, The Nature Conservancy, Hudson Highlands Land Trust, Town of Warwick, Palisades Interstate Parks Commission, NY-NJ Trail Conference, The Sterling Center and Land Trust Alliance.

The evening also will include a special tribute to Land Trust founder, Louis V. Mills, who passed away in December, as well as past members of its Board of Directors and its conserved landowners.

Guests will be treated to cocktail-style dining, with an array of regionally inspired hors d’oeuvres and food stations and local wines and cocktails. A silent auction, raffles and a surprise dessert is planned.
