Night Owl Taxi hosts official grand opening

GREENWOOD LAKE — On Thursday, February 28, public officials and representatives from the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce joined Brian and Doreen Donnelly and their staff for the official grand opening of Night Owl Taxi.

According to owner Brian Donnelly the taxi service, located at 116A Windermere Ave. in Greenwood Lake, first opened last year for the purpose of getting people home safely when they went to dinner or other social activities within Greenwood Lake.

“Currently,” said Donnelly, “we have six employees and two minivans that accommodate up to six passengers each. And we are in the process of purchasing another vehicle.”

The Night Owl recently expanded into serving the entire Town of Warwick with the help of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce.

“This is proving to be a great opportunity for us as well as for the people looking to use our taxi service,” added Donnelly. “We offer a variety of services that include airport service, mall runs and trips into the city as well as shuttles to the various ski centers and wineries in the Warwick valley.”

Night Owl Taxi also has a program to promote the Warwick Valley.

“The way we are trying to do this,” said Donnelly, “is to promote what we call ‘Wine, Dine and Ride.” The idea, he explained, is to get people to travel to interesting destinations within the various villages and hamlets in the Warwick Valley to see all that this part of the Hudson Valley offers.

“We know we can be the tool to get people to where they want to go without worrying about a DWI or God forbid, an accident,” said Donnelly. “Our motto, for a good reason is: ‘Don’t Drink and drive when you can get a ride.”

Thanks to sponsor Dana Distributors, Night Owl Taxi recently offered “Alert Cab” free rides home from any local bar or restaurant on the weekend of St. Patrick’s Day.

“We are a small business and our primary goal is to make sure people are safe and comfortable,” said Donnelly.
