As summer peaks, Sustainable Warwick is sponsoring a presentation titled “Creating a Butterfly Habitat” by Pam Golben on July 21 at 2 p.m. This presentation will be held in the main lodge at Mountain Lake Park and will be followed by an extensive selection of native plants for sale.

The program will include simple ways to create a butterfly habitat that supports all four stages of the butterfly life cycle. Attendees will learn about native plants, native host plants, and nectar plants and why they are essential for butterfly survival; the anatomy of butterflies and the pollinator life cycle; and how to identify some common butterflies and how to provide them with shelter and water. The presentation is intended for adults and for children ages 10 and older.

Pam Golben is a local naturalist and environmental educator who has been teaching nature programs for over 30 years. She enjoys inviting people to take a closer look at local plants and animals. Golben currently works as a senior educator at the Mamakating Environmental Education Center in Wurtsboro, NY, and owns Golben Farms, a small native plant nursery.
