Mount Peter Tubing Park now in its second season
WARWICK — Last year Mount Peter Ski Area celebrated another first. And now the all-new Tubing Park is in its second season.
If you're not into skiing or snow boarding but would like to enjoy a fun and family friendly day on the snow, tubing may be your best choice.
And even skiers and boarders may like to put aside the goggles, boots and poles occasionally to try something different.
No experience or special equipment is needed. Just hop in the tube and enjoy the ride. An operator will be on hand to ensure the people below clear the run safely before launching the next group.
Snow tubing is just like sledding, but without having to haul the sled back up the hill.
Just enjoy the conveyor carpet ride up and then enjoy the 600-foot ride downhill.
The tubing runs have snow built up along each of the sides to keep the tube in a specific lane. And at the end of the hill there is a run out, carpets and an uphill section, which gradually brings riders to a stop.
Although most inner tubes could serve as snow tubes, those at Mount Peter are specifically made for the activity.
The Tubing Park is open Thursday through Sunday and on holidays. There is also a Little Tikes Tubing Play Area for toddlers.
To accommodate a reasonable number of snow tubers at any given time, sessions are divided into two hour blocks and it is advisable to select your choice in advance online or by phone.
