Minisink Battle Commemoration takes place July 18

BARRYVILLE — The Friends of Hathorn House invite all area residents to visit the place where so many of our local revolutionary war militia fought on Saturday, July 18, from 3 to 5 p.m. for the annual Battle of Minisink Commemoration the Battlefield Park in Barryville.

A beautiful drive up along the Delaware will take you to the woodland park to learn more about the desperate struggle of Cols. Hathorn and Tusten and their men to catch and destroy the brilliant Mohawk chieftain Joseph Brant and his raiders.

Arrive at 3 p.m. if you wish to walk the interpretive trail and learn more about Revolutionary War militia life with the reenactment group the Navasing Long Rifles.

The commemoration ceremony will begin at 4 p.m., led by Sullivan County Historian John Conway.

The Friends of Hathorn House will be at the park at 3 p.m. to welcome our Warwick area friends and share information about Gen. John Hathorn's life and career.
