WARWICK — The snow on Railroad Green, leftover from last week's early storm, served as an appropriate backdrop for downtown Warwick's annual celebration of Home for the Holidays.
The Merchant Guild and participating merchants had long been planning the popular event and they promise a bigger and better holiday season with a host of new ideas to encourage everyone to come on down, shop local and enjoy fun for the family.
And many of the downtown shops were decorated for the season and featured special offers and events.

The day also offered an opportunity to support the Warwick Ecumenical Food Pantry with the traditional Angel Tree on Main Street between Akin's Drug Store and Newhard's The Home Source shop, which encourages and provides a way to donate Christmas gifts for the needy.
Home for the Holidays, which traditionally begins just before Thanksgiving and ends after Christmas, is an annual celebration designed to present downtown Warwick as a fun and convenient place to do all your holiday shopping.
And the Warwick merchants want everyone to know that they offer convenience, quality merchandise, special sales, friendly personalized service including gift-wrapping and, in most cases a "wish" list to make things easier for gift givers.
Small Business SaturdayAlso, remember that this Saturday, Nov. 24, is "Small Business Saturday," a day to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for their communities.
