WARWICK — The Warwick Athletics Department has accepted a $6,000 donation as part of the Leo Kaytes supported Ford Drive 4 UR School Program.
Every test drive taken the week of Homecoming resulted in a donation, which accumulated to $6,000 from the Ford Motor Company.
Leo Kaytes Ford of Warwick, and specifically Leslie Culkin and Leo Kaytes Jr., spearheaded the effort to support the Warwick schools.
This partnership is in its tenth year.
Athletics Office Manager Heidi Thonus organized the district's efforts and has been a champion to this cause.
The money has and will be spent on various athletic items that benefit the school district.
Warwick Athletics uses the money for various projects including fitness center improvements, end-of-season awards banquet and contributed toward a utility vehicle to be used at the cross country course and shared with the athletic trainer.
Teams that participated also received additional money to purchase supplies.
The fund-raising effort was extended to extra–curricular clubs such as Interact, Crew Club, Athletic Trainer Club and performance groups.
"Thank you to Ford Motor Company and our friends at Leo Kaytes Ford for their continued support of Warwick schools," said Athletic Director Gregory Sirico.
