‘Keeping Us Together While We Are Apart’
Warwick. The Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation announces its 2020/2021 annual appeal.
While 2020 continues to be a challenging year for everyone, the library is serious about its role in keeping the community together even when we have to be apart.
Virtual programming for all ages on its YouTube channel, historic increases in access to digital materials including e-books, audio books, movies, music and online classes are just a few of the ways it has adapted to the pandemic era.
In-person visits to the library have been designed to ensure safety for staff and library visitors.
While everyone misses the chance to gather together at in-house programs, the library looks forward to when they can return to these activities.
AWPL Foundation’s Annual Appeal is an important source of ongoing support. Last year’s funds supported museum and park passes, concerts, a state-of-the-art projection and sound system for the community room, Early Literacy Computers for children and so much more.
Director Rosemary Cooper reminds the community that the library is “committed to providing content and services during this time and that all donations – both large and small - are appreciated as much as ever.”
Library lions Glenn P. and Susan D. Dickes have pledged to match every gift received in this year’s appeal. This means each gift will be doubled.
“We think it important during these difficult times to demonstrate our support for library and community,” the longtime supporters of the library said. “That is why we will match, dollar for dollar, every gift made to the appeal.”
