NEW MILFORD — Dr. Jennie Rubenstein is celebrating 10 years owning Jockey Hollow Veterinary Practice in Warwick by giving back.
She is marking the milestone by donating 10 percent of the practice’s revenue over a period of 10 days – April 25 through May 5 – to K9s for Warriors.
“We are passionate about animal care, especially as it relates to the human-animal bond,” said Rubenstein, who has owned Jockey Hollow since April 25, 2008. “First hand we have witnessed the importance of pets in our clients’ lives and we wanted to mark our 10 years with a donation to a worthy charity that mirrors our values.”
K9s for Warriors was founded in 2011 and is dedicated to providing service canines to warriors suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and/or traumatic brain injury as a result of military service post Sept. 11.
“Our event will be providing a new ‘leash’ on life to rescue dogs and military heroes,” said Rubenstein. “Twenty-two veterans commit suicide every day. To help combat this devastating statistic, we’ve decided to host an event to create awareness and raise funds.”
