WARWICK — Warwick Valley High School's Interact Club, with a membership of about 100, is the largest student organization at the high school.

And those students are having an important impact on the local community and beyond.

Among recent projects, the Warwick students:

Raised 4,000 items during a food drive, sent shoeboxes and gifts to soldiers in Afghanistan and children in foreign countries.

Supplied meals for 25 families for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Helped senior citizens at Mount Alverno.

Collected Christmas toys for needy children.

Donated $1,000 to Rotary’s community service programs.

WVHS's Interact Club has been presented the prestigious Rotary International Presidential Award, recognizing it as one of the top Interact clubs in the world.

Warwick Interact members have raised more than $35,000 over the past 10 years with fund-raising projects. Largest of these fund-raising activities is the annual spring student talent show. All money raised is used for charity.

Although sponsored by Rotary's local service club, Interact operates independently under the guidance of Jeanine Fogler, who has been advisor of the club for 11 years. Rotary Vice President Ed Lynch serves as coordinator between the two clubs.
