The stated goal was to have a special day for all of those involved; a day that will be forever cherished and featuring a partnership for the event with "Beautiful People," a non-profit organization based in Warwick, that provides opportunities for those with special needs to participate in sports.
On Saturday, June 1, local officials, including Town of Warwick Supervisor Michael Sweeton and Mayor Michael Newhard, along with members of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce joined owners Christian and Raluca Fuchs, family, staff and associates to celebrate the official grand opening of the Hudson Sports Complex.
During the celebration, Fuchs, an Austrian professional footballer who plays as a left back for the English club Leicester City, was able to round up many of his colleagues and professional soccer player friends to participate.
And all patrons had the opportunity to take pictures with and get autographs from the pros.
During the day visitors also had an opportunity to bid at a silent auction with proceeds going to Beautiful People.
The stated mission at Hudson Sports Complex, formerly The Yard Sports Village, located on the grounds of the former Mid-Orange Correctional Facility, is to provide top-class training and playing facilities.
Many programs, for example, are planned for the summer including an upcoming youth soccer tournaments and summer soccer camps.
