Howe Street Bridge in the Village of Warwick re-opens

GOSHEN — Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus participated in a ceremonial ribbon-cutting on Thursday to celebrate the re-opening of the Howe Street Bridge in the Village of Warwick.
Neuhaus was joined at the event by Legislator Barry Cheney, Department of Public Works Commissioner Erik Denega and Village of Warwick Mayor Michael Newhard.
“I want to thank Erik Denega and his talented DPW team for the work that they put into revitalizing the Howe Street Bridge,” Neuhaus said. “This bridge provides safety and convenience for residents in the Village of Warwick and I’m glad that it was re-opened in a timely manner.”
The project budget was approximately $750,000, with design and construction completed by the county’s Department of Public Works.
The Howe Street Bridge, which had been closed since May 2018 for replacement, spans the Wawayanda Creek and connects Howe and River streets.
The single-span bridge was built in 1939 and is 26-feet wide by 48-feet long.
“I’m really proud of our engineering and construction team,” Denega said. “County road and bridge infrastructure is vital to the region and this is another great example of the fine work county forces do. I can’t thank them enough for getting this bridge done in an efficient manner.”
