How sweet it is
WARWICK — On Dec. 12, public officials as well members of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce joined owners Abigail Stever and Melissa Schultz and their guests for the official grand opening of the new location of Eat Sweet Bakery.
The new facility at 28 Railroad Ave. is more than double the size of the previous shop, which was in the same building with a South Street entrance.
It’s the third recent move for the owners and they have recently closed their original Pine Island bakery.
“We can do all our baking here,” explained Stever “and not have to transport our baked goods from Pine Island to Warwick every day. Now, our only location is in Warwick.”
Since they can bake on premises, they will also open earlier than before to serve coffee and fresh baked goods including breads.
Stever and Schultz are best friends who have been baking for over 20 years. They met as teenagers when they were baking for the Runcible Bakery in Nyack, where they grew up.
“It was our collective passion for baking and love of art along with our strong friendship that inspired us to start Eat Sweet 15 years later,” said Stever. “With lots of hard work and help from our amazing friends and families we’ve been able to build a kitchen, open three bakeries and make our childhood dreams into a reality.”
Their hand-crafted baked goods include cakes, classic cookies, truffles, linzer cookies, mini linzer tarts, shortbread, sugar cookies, French macaroons, cake pops, brownies, blondies and custom designed cookies, cupcakes and treats for any occasion.
Stever and Schultz will also fill special orders for holidays, weddings and other occasions.
