Greenwood Lake. Happy 99th birthday, Angelo Defazio
Donna Garley, the director of Greenwood Lake Senior Center, held a birthday party at the GWL American Legion on May 19, for Angelo Defazio on his 99th birthday.
Everyone from the senior center was invited and the party was well attended. It was held outdoors under the pavilion in the fresh air on the beautiful spring day.
Angelo was born in 1922, the youngest of 13 children, and he was raised in New York City.
During World War II he was in the Army Air Corps as a crew member on B-24 bombers. Angelo went on invasions to Africa, Sicily and Rome.
Today, Angelo lives on Indian Trail in Greenwood Lake. His wife lives in a nursing home in Westchester. His son Danny, who is a retired podiatrist, also lives in Westchester.
The party attendees had ziti, hotdogs, hamburgers and salad. Everyone enjoyed the luncheon and Angelo blew out the candles on his birthday cake.
