An overflow crowd paid their respects during Veterans Day ceremonies at the Arthur Finnegan American Legion Post 1443 in Greenwood Lake on Monday, Nov. 11.
Army veteran and Legion Chaplain Father Robert Sweeney opened and closed the program with a prayer.
There also were reflections and comments from Legion Commander Tom Mulcahy, GWL Mayor Jesse Dwyer and Program Master of Ceremonies Walter Kittle. And the singing of "God Bless America."
The ceremony was a reminder of the continuous service of America's veterans, or in the words of Winston Churchill: "Never was so much owed by so many to so few."
Or as John F. Kennedy said so many years ago: "As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them."
