Free family history research databases available through Albert Wisner Public Library

WARWICK — The Albert Wisner Public Library is now providing several new tools for doing family history research.
All of these are available at the library to everyone; all except Ancestry Library Edition are also available at home, see access notes for each:
• Ancestry New York State Records: Open to all New York State residents
• Ancestry Library Edition: In-library use only.
• Family Search: Free resource with billions of names across hundreds of collections. Open to all.
• Fold3.: US military records, including the stories, photos, and personal documents of the men and women who served. Open to AWPL cardholders.
• Heritage Quest: U.S. federal census records with the digitized version of the popular ProQuest Genealogy & Local History collection. Open to AWPL cardholders.
• Local Scanned Newspaper Archive: Searchable issues of The Warwick Advertiser and The Warwick Valley Dispatch, 1866-1983. Open to all.
• Newspapers.com: provides thousands of historical newspapers. Open to AWPL cardholders.
• Warwick Heritage Digital Collection: Thousands of documents, images, sound files and videos about the Warwick Valley area. Open to all.
To access these files first go to albertwisnerlibrary.org and click on "Local History" and then "Genealogy & Historical Research Databases". Do not go directly to the resources online, use our portal to sign on with your library card barcode.
