Frazzleberries welcomes the return of Billy Jacobs
WARWICK — Folk-artist Billy Jacobs will host his fifth annual Trunk Show and signing Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 7 and 8, at Frazzleberries' Warwick location on Main Street.
Jacobs, who hails from Navarre, Ohio, is best known for his extensive collection of watercolor landscape paintings. Depicting scenes of farms and homesteads throughout the American heartland, Jacobs’ images can be found in homes and stores around the country and around the world.
His work was also recently featured on a segment of the popular “American Pickers” TV show airing on the History Channel.
Discovering WarwickJacobs has enjoyed a long-standing friendship with Frazzleberries’ founder Marybeth Schlichting, herself a self-taught folk-artist and painter. In 2009, after nearly 20 years of professional acquaintance, Schlichting suggested that Jacobs visit the Warwick area, where he was instantly inspired by town’s farms and its 19th Century architecture.
Jacobs spent a considerable amount of time during that visit and subsequent visits, taking photographs that he would later transform into rich watercolors from his Ohio studio.
Beginning in 2010, Jacobs would release a series of works that feature iconic Warwick locations such as the Buckbee and Wisner farms in Bellvale.
For the last five years, Frazzleberries has hosted Jacobs for an annual pre-holiday event.
Due to the overwhelming success of these shows, a November date was decided upon for 2015, so as to allow Frazzleberries to focus solely on Jacobs’ work without the added distraction of the pre-Christmas shopping season.
“For over a decade, Billy has been at the forefront of American folk-art – his landscape paintings have an almost universal appeal to the small town in each of us,” said General Manager and partner Jerry Schlichting in the press release announcing the artist's appearance. “We are honored that Billy has found the Warwick Valley so inspiring and we know how inspired our customers are by his work.”
New work to be exhibitedThe Billy Jacobs Trunk Show and Signing will be held from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 7 and 8.
Guests to Frazzleberries will be able to shop from an extensive collection of Jacobs’ work, including newly released images of a Jessup Road farm located in Warwick. All in-store purchases will be eligible for an exclusive trunk-show discount and Jacobs will sign all purchases made during the show.
