WARWICK — On Tuesday, March 6, Town of Warwick Supervisor Michael Sweeton and representatives from the Warwick business community joined Fratello Restaurant owners Joe Boccia and Mike Darcey along with members of their staff for the official opening of a new banquet room.

The recently completed expansion is primarily designed for private parties and special events.

The indoor bi-level area will accommodate 65 guests and, in warm weather, huge sliding glass doors will offer fresh air and easy access to the lower level, the former outdoor patio.

Fratello Family Style Italian Restaurant & Bar at 22 Spring St. can now be available for private functions on weekends without disturbing the normal operation of the busy restaurant and bar. And when no private parties are scheduled, the lower level of the new banquet room will also be open for dining.

“On those busy nights,” said Boccia, “that will help shorten any waiting time for a table.”

In English the Italian word, “Fratello,” means brother and for Boccia, Darcey, and real estate investor Jim Kelly, it represents the bond they share as retired New York City firefighters.

This past January, the partners, who are all longtime Warwick residents, celebrated their fourth business anniversary.

The food can best be described as “Old School Italian” with specialties from various regions throughout Italy.

Chef Larry Klein, a 30-plus-year veteran of Italian food preparation specializes in traditional favorites. Pizza chef Nick Lombardo draws from more than 30 years of experience to serve brick oven pizza. And in addition to individual servings, Fratello also offers platters served family style.
