Florida students recognized as BOCES Humanities Honorees

Two Florida Union Free School District juniors were recognized at Orange-Ulster BOCES’ 2024 Humanities Honoree Awards, which celebrates outstanding achievements in fine arts, performing arts, and the humanities. The award breakfast was held at the Country Club at Otterkill in Campbell Hall on March 19.

Kaylee Krawcyk

Kaylee Krawcyk expresses her artistic excellence in band and chorus while embracing live action theater as the drama stage manager. Her academic achievements are dramatic as well, as she has been on high honor roll for three marking periods for academic years 2021-22, 2022-23, and the first half of the current school year. She won the band award for “most improved.” In addition, her awards in computer aided drafting and BOCES C-tech engineer design and architecture will help her in pursuit of an architecture degree at a SUNY college.

Cricket Casey

Cricket Casey’s interests are in both music and filmmaking. Music has guided them to participate in high school chorus and band, and performances in coffeehouse concerts. As an art student, they are currently taking digital filmmaking and post production at OU BOCES. Additionally, they were part of the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Foundation (HOBY), which is an organization that focuses on inspiring the global community of youth to a life dedicated to leadership, service, and innovation. After high school, Casey plans to go to college and major in filmmaking.
