In this time of COVID-19, members of the Florida Fire Department found a way for the children of the village to celebrate Halloween: They brought the parade - along with assorted goodies and prizes - to the kids.
There were two shifts to the firefighters’ parade on Saturday, Oct. 31: morning and early afternoon for small children and late afternoon and evening for older children.
There also were contests for:
Best Family Themed Costume sponsored by Werner’s ACE Hardware.
Best Exterior Home Decorations sponsored by Realtor Alison Orlando.
Best Pet Costume sponsored by Northern Bear Pet Food Inc.
Best Carved Pumpkin sponsored by sponsored Mattingly’s Tavern.
According to Sal Puglisi, the parade stopped at 35 pre-scheduled homes, including positive COVID residences.
“We visited via window,” Puglisi said, “and and left some extra candy at the end of the driveway.”
More than 100 children participated, Puglisi added, “and countless smiles from the young and the old.”
