Female first responders honored for International Women’s Day
Warwick. Mayor Newhard: 'Thank you for your service to our community.... As women, you bring something very unique and very special to the activities that you do.'

In observance of International Women’s Day (Sunday, March 8), Hugs for Courage invited local female veterans and first responders to gather for a group photo in Veteran’s Memorial Park at noon on Saturday, March 7.
Members of the Warwick Fire Department, Warwick Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Warwick Police Department and Warwick VFW Post #4662 Trustee Rosemary Decker, accompanied by other members of Post #4662, gathered on the chilly but brightly sunny afternoon for the photo.
Village of Warwick Mayor Michael Newhard was present to extend his gratitude and respect for the job that these women do for our community.
“Thank you for your service to our community," the mayor said. "As women you bring something very unique and very special to the activities that you do.”
Newhard closed by thanking Hugs for Courage for organizing the photo.
“I think we are going to see a lot of activities now," he said, "that are going to be geared to first responders and to veterans.”
