— The Warwick Foundation for Excellence in Learning (WFEL) ran its fifth annual kick ball tournament to benefit the students and teachers of the Warwick Valley School District earlier this summer.
The event, which raised nearly $2,000 dollars for the foundation's Mini Grant Program, was a tremendous success.
Seven teams and approximately 100 players came out to play in the single-elimination tournament, which culminated in a final round between the Dropkick Meeney’s and the Fire Balls.
"On behalf of the WFEL board we congratulate the winners of this year’s tournament: The Dropkick Meeney’s (who took home the trophy)," said Vanessa Holland, the chair of WFEL. "We would also like to thank all of the participants, volunteers especially Keith Parcons, Kristen Schulze and Greg Sirico and our sponsors: Annie Rabbit for NYS Senate, Berkeley College Online, Custom Tailoring by Eglie, Dean Diltz Realtor for the Green, Halligans Public House, Missy's Magical Wishes Travel, The Computer Guy The Rock Underground and Vikki.”
The mission of the Warwick Foundation for Excellence in Learning, as community-based, not-for-profit organization, is to promote, enhance, provide, and enrich the educational, teaching and learning opportunities within the Warwick Valley School District.
