Chosun Taekwondo moving to new location on Galloway Road
WARWICK — For the past 16 years, students needed to climb a steep flight of stairs to reach the Chosun Taekwondo Academy and Hatha Yoga Center on the top floor of 62 Main St. in downtown Warwick. But soon, that hike will be history.
With the complete renovation of the old New Jersey Transit bus garage, the center, celebrating its eighteenth year of continuous operation, will relocate to its new address at 62 Galloway Road.
Sharing the attractive plaza with business neighbors Anytime Fitness and TNT Burgers, long-time Warwick residents Doug and Patty Cook will continue offering their authentic brand of traditional taekwondo and hatha yoga in the all-new, 3,000 square-foot ground floor facility with plentiful parking and quick access to Route 17A.
"Our space at 62 Main Street was magic," said Doug Cook, a sixth-degree black belt. "But, with the consistent growth of our academy over the years, we simply grew out of it. We have been fortunate indeed to live and work in such an enchanted environment, and we are confident that our new location, across from Park Avenue School, will generate even more eager and satisfied clients of all ages. We expect to take occupancy shortly after the beginning of 2016."
They were told that the renovations will have been completed and they can move in no later than Jan. 15.
Cook explained that the Chosun Taekwondo Academy and Hatha Yoga Center boasts an unusually high percentage of adults due to a holistically oriented curriculum focusing on genuine Korean defensive doctrine, martial arts philosophy, meditation and internal energy development.
The academy offers a $29 one-month introductory package and a wide range of contract-free, unlimited classes throughout the day and evening all taught by qualified black belt instructors and hatha yoga professionals.
