CEO plays it forward
BLOOMING GROVE — Mediacom Communications announced today that it held a reception honoring the inaugural class of Mediacom Entrepreneur of Tomorrow Award recipients.
The awards were given to graduating seniors from 13 high schools in Orange County who were selected based on their work ethic, academic performance and personal accomplishments.
Each student received a $1,000 scholarship and a plaque commemorating their achievement.
During the reception, Mediacom’s Chairman and CEO, Rocco B. Commisso, gave a brief history of the company, highlighting the entrepreneurial roots upon which Mediacom was founded.
Take risks, lead by example, be ethical
He also shared his views on succeeding in business, encouraging the students to work hard, lead by example, take risks, seize opportunities and always conduct themselves ethically.
“The scholarships I received graduating from high school were fundamental to my pursuit of a college education,” Commisso said. “In creating the Mediacom Entrepreneur of Tomorrow Award, it was my goal not only to recognize Orange County’s next generation of entrepreneurs but also to assist them, in a small way, in covering their college tuition.”
