FLORIDA — If it does say itself, The Florida Family Fun Fest is a great example of what a community can do when it works together. Preparations are ongoing year round with the committee working to make every year just a bit better than the year before.
Last Sunday was no exception.
In addition to the 5K and 10K races, music on three stages and great food from local vendors, the Fun Fest Committee also presented its community awards:
Jobst Arnold Bieling
Jobst Arnold Bieling received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Born on April 17, 1936, the son of Elizabeth Roe of Florida,and Jobst Arnold Bieling Sr. of Hamburg, Germany has been a life-long resident of Florida and Chester. He is the third generation business owner of one of Florida’s cornerstone businesses — Roe Brothers Inc., founded in 1886 by his grandfather John King Roe and his uncles, George and Louis Roe.
Robert B. Scott III
Robert B. Scott III was selected as Citizen of the Year.
Among his many contribution to the community are his service to the Village of Florida; with American Legion Post 1250; as a member of the Friends of the Florida Public Library; a longtime member of the Florida Historical Society, including its Seward Homestead Restoration Committee; the Florida Family Fun Fest Committee; and the Flor-Wick Friends, a senior group.
