Book signing for 'Pride and Produce' author Cheetah Haysom

| 19 Jan 2016 | 02:07

GOSHEN Pine Island resident and author Cheetah Haysom will be at Linda's Office Supplies in Goshen to sign copies of her book, "Pride and Produce," on Saturday, Jan. 23, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The book is about the origin, evolution, and survival of the drowned lands, the Hudson Valley's Black Dirt Farming Region.

Haysom, a Pine Island resident, is a writer and reporter originally from South Africa who moved to the area two decades ago. She has written extensively about the region.

"Pride and Produce" tells the story of the men and women who farm the land, the challenges they face, and what their future looks like.

The book is about the extraordinarily fertile lake of black soil surrounding the island where Haysom lives, the descendants of European settlers who farm this Black Dirt region, and the potentially devastating obstacles they face, all largely unknown to the locovores and foodies they feed in the vast New York Tri-State area.

Linda's Office Supplies, located at 22 West Main St., Goshen, has copies of the book available now as well as on the day of the signing.
