Graduation drive safe program

The Orange County Traffic Safety Board, in conjunction with the New York State Department of Transportation, will place flashing message boards at strategic intersections throughout Orange County with the message “Graduation is Near, Please Drive Safely” between now and June 30. “This is another opportunity to remind young people that while graduation is a time of joy and happiness, inappropriate behavior behind the wheel of a car can have tragic consequences,” said County Executive Edward Diana. Orange County Traffic Safety Programs Director Craig Cherry added: “We look forward to expanding this program to even more locations as we endeavor to raise the public conscience on this issue.” The Orange County Division of Fire Services has also asked fire departments that have message boards to replicate this announcement across the county.
