Four members of Troop 152 achieve Eagle Scout ranking

Chester Four area residents have received the rank of Eagle Scout during ceremonies held Jan. 5 at the Chester Presbyterian Church. The scouts are Kevin Jones of Chester, David Markiewicz of Goshen, Nicholas Biblis of Florida and Frederick Salamone of Warwick. Jones, the son of Mary Beth and Kevin Jones, is a graduate of the Chester Academy and is currently a freshman at SUNY Binghamton. His Eagle Scout project consisted of renovating of a section of the Chester Community Park. Markiewicz, the son of Tom and Susan Markiewicz, is a senior at the Chester Academy. To complete his Eagle Scout project, Markiewicz created and installed a series of benches for the residents at the Schevier Pavilion in Warwick. Biblis , son of Maria Biblis, is a senior at S.S. Seward High School. His Eagle Scout project consisted of mapping, clearing and marking a cross country course for use by Seward High School students. Salamone, the son of Fred and Susan Salamone, also is a senior at Seward. To complete his Eagle Scout project, Salamone designed and built raised bed planting gardens for the residents at Mt. Alverno in Warwick. Approximately 150 people attended the ceremony, and they learned that fewer than five percent of those who join scouting attain the Eagle Scout rank. Troop 152 meets on Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m. at the Chester Presbyterian Church. Membership is open to all boys between the ages of 11 and 18.
