Celebrate the work of our local farmworkers and how they help to sustain local agricultural operations that keep our economies growing and thriving on Wednesday, July 24, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Locust Grove Brewing Co. in Milton, Ulster County.

Orchard farmworkers support a multitude of agricultural products and services in NY, such as cideries and U-Pick tourism.

Join Cornel Cooperative Extension Orange County, New York Integrated Pest Management, Cornell Agritech, and the New York Apple Association for this fun and educational appreciation event for farmworkers from orchards in the Hudson Valley.

Attendees will enjoy lunch together while recognizing farmworkers for their service to the community, followed by a series of 15-minute educational stations covering topics in IPM such as disease identification, pesticide safety, and health resources for farmers. Attendees may also participate in multiple raffles throughout the day.

The organizers are asking farms to send up to five longstanding employees they would like to recognize and provide training to. This will be a bilingual event with simultaneous translation in English and Spanish.

This event is $10 per person with scholarships available upon request. Pre-registration is required. For program questions and sponsorship inquiries, contact Raúl E. Lemus Garza at rel267@cornell.edu or 845-344-1234, ext. 275.
