WARWICK - Warwick's Courtney Hoover signed a national letter of attend Division I Marshall University on Wednesday afternoon after she gave women's soccer coach Chris Kane a verbal commitment in December. Hoover played striker for the Wildcats and her premier club team, the Eastchester Patriots. This season, she scored 13 goals and added five assists for her varsity team. Published reports say that Hoover will receive $8,000 per year from Marshall, which is in Huntington, W. Va. Marshall is a combined 5-28-4 over the past two seasons and went winless in the Mid-American Conference last season. This year, the Thundering Herd will join Conference USA. At press time, Kane could not comment on Hoover's commitment because NCAA rules prohibit any such discussions until the school physically has the signed document in its possession. Kane plans to major in sports management and marketing at Marshall.
