Gloria Washington-Mines, owner of Gloria’s Total Beauty Salon & Spa, in Warwick’s Meadowcrest Mall at 127 Route 94 S, has decided to close the doors of the popular salon and move on to a new career.

On Saturday, Oct. 2, Washington-Mines invited her staff, clients and friends to join her for refreshments and an opportunity to visit her salon for one last time.

“They are all family,” she said.

When Washington-Mines first opened a beauty salon in Sugar Loaf in 2001, it was to fill a need.

She had observed there were no beauty salons in this area providing hair care and other services for African-American women. And the business was an immediate success.

Before opening her salon in Sugar Loaf Washington-Mines had been a lead cosmetology instructor for eight years at Wilfred Academy School of Beauty in The Bronx. She was also certified in business leadership training, product sales and services from Dudley’s Cosmetology University, and she was a certified Trichologist.

After five years her clients expressed the need for more services and Mines jumped on the opportunity to move to a larger space in the MeadowCrest Mall in Warwick. And the name changed to Gloria’s Total Beauty Salon & Spa.

Rude Rangers Entertainment recently announced that Washington-Mines will debut a new show on the Rude Rangers Unite TV network.

Gloria's Healthy Home & Body, the release explained, is a show designed to help people achieve maximum wellness.

During the show, Gloria and her guests discuss realistic ways to lose weight, increase energy and live life to the fullest.

"I'm humbled by this opportunity to share my message with the network's viewers worldwide,” said Washington-Mines. Viewers of my show will be enlightened, entertained and empowered to maximize their health journey. Best of all, I'll be by their side the entire way"
