Arts Council hosts 'Empty Bowl Fiesta' to help farm workers on Dec. 10

Sugar Loaf — Hurricane Irene and tropical storm Lee have been catastrophic to the farm workers and their families. Donations to FarmAid were not allocated to the farm workers, many of whom are presently out of work and are hungry. The food pantry at the Alamo Community Center, which serves thousands of farm workers each year, is in desperate need of assistance. You can help by attending our “Empty Bowl Fiesta” on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 4 p.m., at the Seligmann Estate, 23 White Oak Drive in Sugar Loaf. Come with your family and enjoy an afternoon of music and soup. Take home a handmade bowl donated by local artists. Music will be provided by “Estamos Listos,” a local band featuring Marji Zintz and Saloman Trujillo. All of the proceeds will be donated to the Alamo. To volunteer or to donate bowls, call 845-651-1170. Suggested donation is $20 per person, Come and give what you can. This event is sponsored by the Orange County Arts Council and Amity Arts Workshop.
