PINE ISLAND — On Sunday, June 10, Pine Island Bible Church held a special evening service to formally install its new pastor, the Rev. John Lashuay.

Lashuay is the son of missionaries and grew up in the Philippines where his parents served.

For the past 15 years, the Pine Island area has been Lahey’s home: During this time he was employed at Rylex Custom Cabinetry and Closets of Pine Island and served as the part time youth pastor for the church.

Lashuay is following the tenure of Pastor Dan Boyce, who had served at the Pine Island Bible Church for almost 15 years.

Boyce resigned from the church on Dec. 31, 2009, to begin planting a new church in upper New Hampshire. During the past 2-1/2 years, Lashuay has served as the interim pastor and was recently ordained.

The pastor and his wife Kara have two children, ages 4 and 2.

Pine Island Bible Church is a Christ-centered church made up of a dedicated body of believers who are seeking to glorify God in all they do. The church is located at 9 Little Brooklyn Road in Warwick and has been a ministry in the community for more than 100 years.

Services are held weekly on Sundays at 10 and 11 a.m. and on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m.

Children’s programs are available at the 10 a.m. Sunday service and the 7 p.m. Wednesday service. All are welcome.
