Scout works to improve animal shelter
Goshen Goshen Girl Scout Elizabeth Martindale is working on her Gold Award the highest award a Girl Scout can achieve. As part of her project, she plans to refurbish the cat room at the Blooming Grove Humane Society on Route 94 in Washingtonville. In conjunction with remodeling the free roam cat room, Liz is seeking donations of cabinets used for food, medication, cleaning and other supplies. Liz also has been gathering pet supplies for all the animals at the shelter. This past spring she ran a pet supply drive at Goshen High School, as well as through the Goshen Girl Scout Community. Some of the items she collected included cat and dog food, treats, toys, litter, and used pillows and blankets. Through her project Liz hopes to make the shelter’s quarters more attractive and to make the public more aware that the animals in the shelter need good homes.
