Theodore R. Cody of Warwick passed away on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, at his home. He was 95 years old.
Born on Dec. 19, 1923, in Manhattan, he was the son of Victor and Stella Czeczotka.
He was married to Regina (Rutkowski) Cody.
Ted was a dedicated American. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on Nov. 23, 1942, and was honorably discharged on June 18, 1945.
He completed 35 operational missions as a B-17 ball turret gunner. Ted earned a European, African, Middle-Eastern Theatre Ribbon with two service stars, Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Unit 6 Citation, Distinguished Flying Cross and Purple Heart.
He was a proud member and past Commander of the VFW Post 4662 in Warwick.
Ted was a parishioner of St. Stephen Church in Warwick and formerly of Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mahwah, N.J.
He loved spending time with his family and enjoying the outdoors and nature.
He loved the simple things in life. His kindness and big heart will always be remembered.
Theodore leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Regina; his children: Raymond and his wife Deborah, Eileen and her husband Richard, Cynthia and her husband Steven and his daughter-in-law Jeanine Cody; his grandchildren: Gregory, Kristine and Joseph, Brian, Sean, Kevin and Cheryl, Christina and Christopher, Michael and Kate, Jeffrey and Kaitlin, Elizabeth, Thomas and Ashley, Daniel and Jillian, and John; his great-grandchildren: Matthew, Ciara, Emma, Easton, Ryan, Olivia and Madeline; and many nieces and nephews.
Ted is predeceased by his son, Ronald; brothers Frank Chechotka and Michael Czeczotka; sister Anna Chabowski and brother Stanley Czeczotka; and sisters-in-laws Sr. Mary Raymond, Sr. Mary Vincent and Sr. Carolyn Marie of the Felician Order.
The family would like to extend their most heartfelt thanks to the VA Hudson Valley, Hospice of Newburgh and the Warwick Police Department and Warwick EMS.
Visitation was held Dec. 27 at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, in Warwick.
A Funeral Mass was held Dec. 28 at St. Stephen RC Church.
Interment followed in Warwick Cemetery.
