It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Chichester announce his passing on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at the age of 77 in Venice, Florida.
Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Carol Chichester; his children Gregory and partner Evelyn Sacco and Jamie and husband Carlos Cofino; and his beloved granddaughter Jade.
He was predeceased by his son Jon Chichester.
The son of Josephine Chichester, he was born on Jan. 7, 1941. He was raised by his mother and his loving Grandma (Julia Cesarski) in Brooklyn.
Bob received a Catholic school education and joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1959. He proudly served his country and loved his time of service. A proud veteran - Semper Fi - until the end!
Bob will be forever remembered by his sister Judith and her husband Stanley Morris, his sister-in-law Joan Corcoran and by several wonderful nieces and nephews.
Many friends and extended family have lovingly referred to him as: Uncle Bob, Mr. Chi, Poppa Chi or Bobby Chi.
He will be fondly remembered for his acts of kindness, his helping hands and as a remarkable role model to numerous young people.
A dedicated and hard worker all of his life, he retired as VP of Symphony Scarves, New York City, and as finance manager of Country Chevy in Warwick.
Bob’s volunteer activities included Commissioner of Bellmore Little League and literacy volunteer for adults in prison.
He was happiest when out on a boat fishing. An avid fisherman his whole life, he taught many how to truly enjoy that sport.
A true family man, he was surrounded by all of those who loved him until the end of his life, including Mac, the family Golden Retriever. Thank you to Hospice of Venice, Florida.
A celebration of life will be held in New York at a later date. For information regarding memorial date, please correspond by email to bobchichestermemorial@gmail.com.
