Norma Jean Bennett of Pine Island passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2017, from complications due to Parkinson’s disease at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Wayne, N.J. She was 67 years old.
Born June 27, 1949, in Englewood, N.J., she was the daughter of John and Dorothy (Brown) Zotz.
She was married to Walter A. Bennett.
Norma graduated from Boston University with a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy.
She has been an administrator with Day Spring School in Warwick and a teacher’s assistant with Mountain Laurel School in New Paltz. She taught at Mid-Orange Correctional Facility, assisting prisoners obtain GED’s, worked at Planned Parenthood, helped migrant workers at The Alamo in Goshen and worked as a secretary with Stage & Nathans, LLP in Warwick.
She is survived by her husband, Walter A. Bennett of Pine Island; her son, Sam Bennett of Seattle, Washington; a sister, Barbara Zotz of Huntington Station; a brother, John Zotz of Los Altos, California; and many friends.

Private services were under the direction of Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.
