Laurie A. Campbell of Warwick passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2020. She was 69 years old.
Born in Worchester, Mass., on Sept. 2, 1951, she was the daughter of Philip S. Campbell and Barbara M. (McCarthy) Campbell.
Laurie was a Corrections Counselor with the New York State Corrections Department, which she retired from in December 2019.
She is survived by her daughter Lindsey Emmerich-Riley and her husband Terrance Riley of Warwick; son Patrick Emmerich of Warwick; son James Emmerich and his wife Claudia Gaspar-Emmerich of Warwick; sister Patricia Campbell-Kibler of Groton, Mass.; Scott Emmerich; and two grandchildren, whom she loved more than anything, Danika and Jayden Riley. She was predeceased by a sister, Claire “Dee” Campbell.
Laurie was an advocate for civil and human rights. Her only greater passion was the love of her children and grandchildren. She valued time with her family more than anything, they were her sunshine. She touched the lives of more people than we will ever know:
Counselor Campbell,
There are few like you in DOCS who actually inspire people like me to make a change in their life. I thank you for your support and positive encouragement. Most important though, I thank you for being humane to me despite my predicament.
May the most high and the powers that be continue to guide and keep you, and may you be blessed and successful in all your endeavors.
P.S. The graduation was a success. EDUCATION!!
There will not be a service. Laurie’s ashes will be spread by her family at Hampton Beach.
Please make any donations to The Brian Ahearn Children’s Fund, a cause that Laurie was very grateful to (https://www.aboutbacf.org).
Arrangements were made by Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. To send an online condolence, go to www.lsvpmemorialhome.com.
