Joan M. Carton, of Marlboro, NY (formerly of Warwick, NY), passed away at home with her loving family by her side on March 7, 2022. She was 70 years old.
Born in Peckville, PA, on March 28, 1951, she was the daughter of James and Pauline (nee Sordi) Middleton.
Joan worked as an X-ray technician at St. Anthony Community Hospital as well as in primary care offices in Jacksonville and Sneads Ferry, NC. While working full time, Joan achieved her lifetime goal of receiving her baccalaureate degree from SUNY Empire.
A family statement reads, “All who knew Joanie loved her for her warm and outgoing personality and sense of humor. Though she never wanted children of her own, she happily became a loving and dedicated second mother to James’s three young daughters when they married. She delighted in her three grandsons, great-grandson and nieces and nephews and was famous in the family for spoiling them all.
After retiring from her work as an X-ray technician, Joanie dedicated herself to the crafts she loved by sewing handcrafted items for children which she sold at many a craft fair. She was a huge part of our family and she will be missed tremendously.”
Left to mourn are: her loving and devoted husband of 46 years, James; mother, Pauline B. Middleton formerly of Peckville, PA; daughters: Lisa Carton of Bennington, VT, Susan Carton-Lopez and her husband Gabriel, of Cranston, RI, and Jennifer Carton-Killough and her husband William, of Marlboro, NY; sisters: Jeanne Timm of Tulsa, OK and Lori Briskie and her husband Eric of Easton, Pa; three grandchildren: Nicolas and Benjamin Lopez, and Alexander Jones; and one-great-grandchild Leo Lopez; nieces and nephews: Lauren Briskie, Ryan Briskie, Kelly Davis, and Michael Timm. She was predeceased by her father, James.
