Jean Yates of West Milford, N.J., passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 11, 2020. She was 92, the older of two children.
More than anything, Jean cherished her family. Jean lived most of her life in Staten Island, where she and her husband, Kenneth W. Lundy, raised their three sons.
She enjoyed sewing for her family – making clothing, curtains and even slipcovers for furniture. Jean was also an avid crocheter – creating beautiful afghans for her children and lap blankets for nursing home residents.
Jean was a dedicated member of the Castleton Hill Moravian Church. There she sang in the choir, and participated in various women’s organizations. She was also active with the church’s Boy Scout Troop 26, as a den mother for their Cub Scout Pack.
Jean spent her retirement years living in Fort Myers, Fla., with her second husband, Gerard Yates, also from Staten Island, where she enjoyed the warmth and sunshine that she so loved.
Jean is predeceased by her first husband, Kenneth W. Lundy, and her second husband, Gerard Yates, her mother, Christine Lundy, her father, Walter Olsen, her cousin, Vivien Rithaler, her uncle, Edward Martinsen, and stepson, Jack Yates.
Jean is survived by her brother, Walter Olsen (Ruth), of Tamarac, Fla., her three sons: Kenneth Lundy (Frances), of Hewitt, N.J., Peter Lundy (Jamea) of Supply, N.C., and David Lundy (Jeanann), of Staten Island. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Matthew Lundy (Stephani), James Lundy, Christina Curl (Nicholas), and Andrea Bivona (Daniel), and one great grandchild, Olive Grace Curl. In addition are niece Elise Feagle (Steven), stepson Roy Yates (Vilma), and three step grandchildren, Ruth and Christie Yates, and John N. Lim.
