Janet Mac Williams of Warwick passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Thursday, March 18, 2021, after a long illness. She was 85 years old.
Born on Jan. 26, 1936, in New York City, she was the daughter of Alexander and Frances Zumba.
Janet was married to Edward F. Mac Williams for 51 years. She was predeceased by her daughter Susan Paladino.
Her family’s statement reads: “Our Mom was full of love and humor and a true ‘momma bear.’ She was extremely protective of her girls and grandchildren. She had many names ... Jan, Honey, Jany and to her grandchildren she was Zsa Zsa or just Zsa and ZZ. Her family was everything to her. She found a new life at Liberty Green a few years after our Dad passed away. Her friends at Liberty Green and at the Golden Senior Club meant the world to her. We will forever be grateful to all of them for their friendship, playing cards, bingo, exercise class and just being there for her and each other. Our family vacations will not be the same. Every Sunday will never be the same. She had a special relationship with our dog Cody, a golden retriever, they were inseparable. Thank you to all that loved her and to Hospice for their wonderful care and love during a difficult process. She will be deeply missed by all.”
Janet is survived by her daughters Donna Meier and her husband Ken of Belle Mead, N.J., and Cindy Vander Plaat and her husband Roger of Warwick; and six grandchildren: Kelly, Steven, Kevin, Matthew, Jack and Skyler.
The family received friends on March 23, which was followed by Funeral Service at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.
Interment followed the service in Warwick Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to Hospice of Orange-Sullivan County, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550 or Warwick Health Foundation, 255 Lafayette Ave., Suffern, NY 10901.
