It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Clark of Warwick, N.Y., in the late afternoon of Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Morristown Medical Center in New Jersey. She was 86 years old.
Although extremely strong in will, an avalanche of complications developed from a serious fall led to her leaving this earth peacefully while surrounded by her children.
Elizabeth (Betty) was born in Fairview, N.J., to Arthur and Marcella (West) Faller on March 2, 1935. Raised in Fairview and Bergenfield, she married at the young age of 20. She and her husband Jim scrimped and saved, working full time while raising a family of four in Emerson. Carefully balancing work and home life Betty was a wonderful mother and homemaker that kept not only the household spotless but her children as well. Her schedule revolved around her hair appointments and she always kept her nails and makeup application to her very high standards.
You could always count on her punctuality and reliability as she was an utmost creature of habit. Inherited from her mother, she expressed her love through her cooking skills which were then in turn passed down to all of her children, especially to her son the chef. She loved trying out new recipes and was widely known for her astounding pound cake.
Prior to her retirement, Betty worked 20 years as the surgical coordinator for Bergen Orthopedic and Sports Medicine in Westwood, N.J.
She had many dear friends and was an active member at the Warwick Golden Seniors. She always enjoyed activities such as spending time with family, reading, gardening, playing mahjong with “the girls” and jokingly “gambling away her children’s inheritance” at casinos.
Betty, our family matriarch, will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Colleen Devlin and her husband Peter of Middletown, N.Y.; son Michael Clark and his wife Kris of Indianapolis, Indiana; daughter Maureen Kane of Melbourne, Fla.; son Daniel Clark and his partner James Kuhnert of Boonton, N.J.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, James, her sister Marcella Herschel, her son-in-law Brian Kane and her grandson Jason Ferrare.
The family will receive family and friends for a memorial visitation on Friday, Dec. 3, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated (and livestreamed @ https://ststephenchurchwarwick.org/) on Saturday, Dec. 4, at 12 noon at St. Stephen the First Martyr R.C. Church, 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick, with interment in Warwick Cemetery following the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Elizabeth Clark are invited to make a donation in her name to: St. Stephen the First Martyr R.C. Church or a local food pantry of their choice.
