Carl R. Wesseldine

    Carl R. Wesseldine of Newburgh passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021, at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. He was 89 years old.

    The son of Chester Wesseldine and Sara Williams Wesseldine, he was born on Aug. 29, 1932, in Clinton.

    Carl was a retired engineer at Cintichem, Inc. in Sterling Forest and a retired machinist at International Nickel Company.

    He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean War as a dog trainer.

    He was a local volunteer firefighter for more than 60 years with the Tuxedo Fire District and a lifelong member of the American Legion.

    He was an avid bowler back in the day, bowling the highest possible score of 300, achieved by bowling 12 strikes in a row. He also taught little league to the youths of Tuxedo.

    Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Ann Sorice Wesseldine at home; son Mark Wesseldine and wife Bobbe of Pine, Colorado; daughters: Laurie Humenanski and husband Edward of Warwick, Christine Morales and husband Gabe of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Tara Courtenay of Middletown; sisters: Alice Ann Wesseldine of Clinton and Jane Goutermout of Copenhagen, New York; nine grandchildren: Jessica and husband Jeramy, BreeAnna, Kyrie Lee, Zachery and wife Marissa, Brittney, Theresa, Faith, Meaghan and Jackie and one great grandchild Ezekiel.

    He was predeceased by a brother Fleming Wesseldine and his sisters Katherine Wesseldine, Brenda Williams and Amy Webb.

    A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 6, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 5 Tobin Way, Tuxedo.

    Cremation will be at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
