Warwick—When is a rookie not really a rookie? When she comes with four years experience, an undying passion for her work and a support network that keeps her at the top of her game. Diane Massey, a seasoned realtor in Warwick, lived up to a prediction made a few years ago when Broker Agent Magazine, a national trade publication for real estate professionals, named her a “rising star” in the real estate business. She recently received the RE/MAX “Rookie of the Year” award for the entire state of New York. “It was an honor to be named Rookie of the Year in New York State for RE/MAX,” said Massey. Massey’s real estate career is actually five years old. She is only a rookie in RE/MAX’s eyes because she joined RE/MAX just one year ago. Massey chose the RE/MAX career path because she liked the business model. “I wanted to be in control of my own destiny and to have my own business,” Massey said. “The RE/MAX business model allows you to truly be in business for yourself, not by yourself. That’s why I switched to RE/MAX.” That move certainly worked for Massey. Last year, in what most would agree was a declining real estate market, she had 22 transactions. Part of her success has to do with her background—before real estate, Massey was a fundraising and marketing professional. “If you are passionate about what you’re doing, you can be successful,” she said. “I’ve always been passionate about people. I love being part of the home-buying process with them.” And it shows. A large part of Massey’s business if through referrals. “If you do a good job, people tell their friends and neighbors.” Massey, who has her broker’s license and is a certified home marketing specialist, doesn’t just do business here. She is part of the community, serving on the Warwick Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors as well as on the board of the Women’s Council of Realtors. At the RE/MAX Night of the Stars awards ceremony, Massey stood out. “I love the power of RE/MAX and the team of associates I work with,” she said. “This award is made possible, in part, because they are my biggest cheerleaders!”
