The Greenwood Lake Elks Lodge sponsored an Eagle Scout ceremony May 31 honoring Alexander Nicholas of Troop 121 Venture Crew of Greenwood Lake. Nicholas and his father Al, a Greenwood Lake police officer and member of the Greenwood Lake Fire Dept., are proud to show the large number of honorary plaques, letters and certificates from dignitaries noting his accomplishment, including: U.S. Rep. John Hall, state Sen. Thomas Morahan, Assemblywoman Annie Rabbitt, Orange County Legislator Ben Winstanley, Warwick Supervisor Michael Sweeton, Greenwood Lake Mayor Barbara Moore, Village Trustees, the Greenwood Lake Elks, the Greenwood Lake Fire Dept., the Greenwood Lake Police Dept., the Greenwood Lake American Legion, Nancy DeAngelo, George F. Baker High School in Tuxedo, the Greenwood Lake Lions and Helen Kelly. Mayor Moore also declared that Saturday as “Alexander Nicholas Day” in Greenwood Lake. Nicholas, who is a member of the Greenwood Lake Fire Department, has earned 22 merit badges during his scout years. Troop 121 has had 26 Eagle Scouts in its ranks, starting back from 1941.
