Florida. The cause of the fire at a Jonah Circle home was accidental
Chief Tom Andryshak of the Florida Volunteer Fire Department said the cause of the three-alarm fire that displaced a family from their home at 35 Jonah Circle earlier this month has been ruled accidental, though he has not yet seen a final report as to the fire’s cause.
“What I can confirm is that the county fire investigation unit has ruled it accidental, but I am not aware that an official cause has been determined at this time,” Andryshak said earlier this week. “I was not on the scene, but I understand the fire was mostly in the garage. This was by no means what we call a ‘surround and drown’ situation.”
News 12 reported that the homeowner was mowing his lawn on Sunday, Aug. 6, when he smelled burning plastic and then saw smoke coming from the house. It was at that point he ran inside the house to get his wife, who was in the kitchen.
There were no reported injuries.
