Circle of Voices Poetry Discussion

Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m.

Join Laurie Byro for our first lively session at Albert Wisner Public Library - via Zoom - as we welcome new members in a virtual meet-and-greet.

Each attendee is asked to bring one or two poems that represent who they are or how they perceive the world.

The Many Facets of Judaism

Thursday, Feb. 4 at 6:30 p.m.

Diversity and inclusion built the United States. Despite recent reports that political polarization is tearing at that fabric, we have been here before, and we will get through this together.

In Orange County there is no less of a need for mutual understanding that can come through knowledge and respect. We have as our objective, creating a dialogue to increase inter-religious understanding illuminate the various denominations and facets of Judaism.

Panelists (including Jewish clergy from the Reform, Conservative, Hasidic, Modern Orthodox and Chabad movements) will share their tradition, its central tenets and how it differs from other Jewish ways of being.

A scholar will provide a biblical historical perspective to broaden our view of developmental milestones of Jewish thought.

Mindfulness: Steadiness in the Midst of Change

Wednesdays, Feb. 10, 17 and 24 at 5:30 p.m.

Clinical psychologist Ruth Langstrom will lead a three-part course exploring mindfulness, with an emphasis on how the practice of mindfulness can help steady us when life feels unstable.

With a steadier mind, we can begin to relax into each moment, free from regret and worry.

Each class will include guided meditation practice, teaching and Q&A, as well as optional homework.

It is recommended, though not required, that you attend all three classes if possible.
