Warwick. Historical Society to host Fun Run Through the Village on July 24

Join the Warwick Historical Society (WHS) on Saturday, July 24, at the inaugural George Washington Day 5K, starting and finishing at Veterans Memorial Park, 29 Forester Ave., Warwick.
Dart down the streets of the Village in a tri-cornered hat-like shaped course, past historic properties and markers, and be part of the first 5K to support the mission of the WHS, preserving, sharing and celebrating the history of the Town of Warwick.
The cost is $25 for participants, $30 if you register after July 17. Waves begin at 8:30 a.m. Register by following the link, https://runsignup.com/Race/NY/Warwick/GeorgeWashingtonDay5K.
The WHS would like to thank our generous GW Day 5K sponsors: Etched in Time Engraving, Rooster Tees, Walden Savings Bank, Bellvale Farms Creamery, Baird’s Tavern, Peck’s Wine & Spirits, ShopRite of Warwick, and Fizzy Lifting Soda Pop Candy Shop.
Free historic property tours
After the run, spend the afternoon with the WHS at open house tours of several historic properties throughout the Village.
Speak with local historians and learn about the buildings, constructed between 1764 to 1927.
Hear stories about some of the earliest inhabitants of our community, tour the archaeological dig site behind the Shingle House, the oldest house in the Village of Warwick, and enjoy the agriculture exhibit in the Sly Barn, a tribute to the industry of agriculture in Orange County.
